As part of our own entry for the Design Collective Chichester + Pallant House Summer open evening event - 'Wish You Were Here' postcards collection, letterpress printing was the chosen creative medium. Having grown up in Chichester, Wendy's memorable place was her parents Chinese takeaway - Lotus House, memories of popping in after school for cheeky chips and curry sauce.
With a basic idea in mind and a completely hands on approach to the letterpress process, the idea forged its way onto paper in the form of numbers not letters. Takeaway menu numbers printed in typical auspicious red and yellow before final touches were added in photoshop - a flood of bright pink to sum up the 80's, the Chinese character 'Lotus' displayed as a subtle overlay add depth and a small lotus graphic complete the final design.
